SLIDING PATIO DOORS
Large sliding window and door solutions create a modern impression, providing the home with more light, saving space and ensuring its optimal use. However, large patio windows and doors should not become a source of cold in the cold season. Instead of letting the heat out, it should offer a wide landscape view and as much of sunlight and warmth as possible. These structures should keep the home not only warm, but also safe – in other words, protected from burglary. Another important thing is to make sure that the sliding door is easy to open and close.
We manufacture our elegant, warm and sturdy PVC sliding patio door frames and leaves from GEALAN S 8000 HST and GEALAN S 9000 HST profiles.
PIETŲ MEGRAME S 8000 LIFT AND SLIDE DOORS
These reinforced sliding doors are suited for large glazed areas. Large sash and frame reinforcements make the door particularly stable. 74 mm profile installation depth and four-chamber geometry enable to achieve very good thermal insulation results both in the frame and the sash. 44 mm triple glazing units enable to achieve excellent door heat insulation indices. Since S 8000 HST lift and slide doors are very impermeable, they will keep your warmth inside and the water outside even during the strongest of rain.
Pietų Megrame S 8000 HST lift and slide doors are easy to use – you can open and close them using a single hand. Lift and slide it aside to open. The door can also be controlled using fitted remote control devices.
We can manufacture sliding patio doors with one or more sliding leaves, based on your needs, from size to glazing unit types and colors. The variety of laminate films and colors will make it easy to fit the door to the interior and façade of your home.
PIETŲ MEGRAME S 9000 LIFT AND SLIDE DOORS
5 internal sliding door sash and frame profile chambers and 82.5 mm installation depth determine excellent heat insulation indices, which comply with indicators that meet the requirements for passive house doors. Two parallel steel profiles installed in separate chambers of the frame profiles create a thermal barrier of the rigid parts, while the increased depth of the 26 mm glazing unit entry into the profile protects the coldest parts of the glazing unit from direct contact with the environment, and all this further improves the thermal characteristics of the door frame and sash.
The excellent thermal insulation properties of the frame and sash profile and the possibility of using up to 52 mm 3-pane glazing units increase the energy efficiency indicators even more. Therefore, during the cold season, Pietų Megrame S 9000 lift and slide doors will definitely not be letting any of the heat out, offering outdoor views and sunlight instead.
The sash and frame width plays an important role to both thermal and light parameters. S 9000 DESIGN option of lift and slide doors features a slimmer glazing profile instead of the usual fixed sash. It enables to reduce the visible frame width by more than 50 per cent, resulting in more light regardless if the door is opened or closed. A low threshold not only visually decreases the barrier between the outside and the inside, but also enables free movement.
Modern, strong, warm and impermeable (7A rain permeability and 4 air permeability class), easy to use, white and colored lift and slide Pietų Megrame S 9000 doors with a low threshold will definitely contribute to the cosiness of your home.
GLAZING UNITS
Glass takes up the largest area of any window structure, thus playing a crucial role in important technical parameters of the entire window: heat and sound insulation, protection from wind and rain. It is also the part of the window, which provides your home with sunlight. Therefore, picking a suitable glazing unit is very important in each case.
Glazing units differ in the number of glass sheets and the type of glass used. Glass panes in 2-4 pane units are separated by aluminium or plastic spacer bars, while the space between the glass panes can be filled with noble gas thus improving thermal insulation indices of the window up to several times.
The characteristics of the glazing unit also depend on the gaps between the glass panes, and the type of glass used. Double pane glazing unit with selective glass (coated in a very thin layer of metal or metal oxides) is great for apartment building windows, as premises in apartment buildings are consistently heated. Private homes make a better use of triple pane glazing units. If your private house or apartment building is located on a busy city street, we recommend glazing units with sound insulation. The sound insulation qualities depend on the thickness of the glass, the gap between the glass panes, and the type of glass used. The thickness of glass panes in a sound-insulating glazing unit should be 16-20 mm with a 16-20 mm distance between the panes. Also, at least one of the panes should be coated with a sound-insulating film.
Pietų Megrame uses the following glazing units:
- – standard;
- – thermal-insulating;
- – with sun control coating;
- – increased safety;
- – decorative and structural glazing units.

COLOR DOORS
Examples of windows used as the means of aesthetic expression can be found in nearly all buildings. They give character and complement or become the distinctive details of the building’s architectural style. Architectural style is complemented not only by the shape, division, and décor of the doors and windows, but also their color.
Colored door and window frames make the building unique. The color can visually increase or decrease the window in the general context of the façade. For example, dark colors make the windows look bigger, as it is closest to the color of the glass during the day time. White or light grey frames highlight the window making it look smaller due to the contrast between the frame and the glass. Dark window frames are currently very popular and they certainly look luxurious, but customers fear the color may eventually fade. Profiles, used for door and window frames, manufactured by Pietų Megrame, can be not only white, but also colorful, coated with GEALAN-acrylcolor® acrylic, and laminated with decorative films, featuring all kinds of multi-colored patterns.
Colored GEALAN-acrylcolor® door and window frames
Dark window frames are currently very popular and they certainly look luxurious, but customers fear the color may eventually fade. Pietų Megrame offers colored windows, manufactured of unique colored GEALAN-acrylcolor® profiles. Their color is obtained during a thermal process, when the base of the profile is homogeneously fused with melted colored acrylic. This means that the plastic is not simply painted – the color is obtained by casting colored acrylic on the profile. Compared to the usual painted profiles, these door and window frames show more resistance, durability and maintain their novel appearance for years without peeling off, flaking or fading.
The 0.5 mm surface layer of the colored GEALAN-acrylcolor® PVC window frames are more durable and show better resistance to heat or changing weather conditions – the color stays unchanged for many years even under constant direct sunlight. Acrylic surface is very smooth, preventing accumulation of dust and other dirt. Window frames coated with colored acrylic are easy to clean, always look like new, their surface doesn’t flake, peel, or scratch, and any transportation, installation or finishing accidents can be easily polished.
This PVC frame coating method has been used for more than 40 years has really proven its exceptional properties in practice. You can enjoy the deep and bright GEALAN-acrylcolor® colors for decades, as they practically don’t fade. The colored windows of Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos, installed more than 20 years ago, make a perfect example.
GEALAN-acrylcolor® resistance is relevant only on the window or exterior side, while the interior side can be white or laminated in any color you like.
